2013 is the Year of Intuition. Part Two.

Fast, cheap, or good. Pick two. That’s our mantra in television production, the occupation that keeps the lights on here at Burwell General Store. Years of working fast and cheap can leave one yearning for the good and slow out there, which is what I hope to bring to Burwell General Store in the coming months.

No longer “just” a food blog with recipes, posts will start appearing with more current social issues percolating in my community and yours. If you follow my twitter feed, you have already noticed a shift from a straight-up food blog thread to broader, deeper content covering topics from food policy, the environment, technology and health and social welfare issues. I will be sharing more of that with you here this year.

Slow change. I like the sound of it. It feels right. I’ve made a plan to bring these new ideas into the light, and am eagerly seeking your thoughts and comments below or by email to let me know what you feel are pressing issues we should be paying attention to. I’d love to – and need to - hear your voices. They serve as my guidance as I pick topics to focus on. To kick it off, three topics I am following closely right now are our returning veterans' physical and mental health heeds, homeless youth, and the disappearance of bees, our world's pollinators.

Thank you, as always, for being loyal readers. I hope you enjoy the exciting content to come.

  1. I'm all about the bees. Worried about the honey bees.
